The Artist
Lea Parker was born and raised in
Woodworking has always been a hobby for Lea, and stil is. Lea's lathe work started as a production machinist running a turret lathe for aircraft and aerospace. Then while taking some time off work, Lea began experimenting with woodturning in his workshop. Finding that woodturning was something he truly loved to do, his career as a turner has come naturally for him.
The Work
Each piece of wood is selected for its natural beauty and color. I use only dry and seasoned wood and often enhance the natural cracks and formations with different colored epoxies.
The art is created through the process of turning and filling each piece. Finally each wood art piece is coated with a clear epoxy resin to protect the wood and bring out the grain. This coating makes the piece waterproof, so that the vases can hold water and flowers, and all of the wood art pieces have a lifetime finish.
These pieces make wonderful wedding and anniversary gifts for any couple to enjoy. In fact, wooden art and other wooden pieces are traditional the gift for a fifth year wedding anniversary. They also make outstanding house warming gifts.
The Care
I recommend using a non-oil based furniture polish to clean and polish your wood art piece. Treat your wood art piece as you would any work of fine art. The art should be placed in your home out of direct sunlight and with a constant temperature below 90 degrees Fahrenheit. All of our wood art is guaranteed and we will make most repairs for free.
